I have returned from my holiday break and it is time to reopen the shop, tease about the first shop update of the year and some of my plans with Moris in 2025.
As you may have seen on my socials, I’ve been away for quite a while. Turns out that doing 4 events in 5 weeks while trying to juggle stock prep, doing admin and client work isn’t that great for your mental health. So on the 3rd of December I closed my online shop, that way I was able to finish packing orders and client work right before the holidays. I did a full online detox, deleted tiktok and replaced instagram doomscrolling with reading and drawing.
I used to spend hours and hours just scrolling through videos of people dumping their feelings and political views on me and it just made me sad or angry. It surprised me how much it affected my mood and how much extra time I had if I didn't spend it aimlessly scrolling. It was wonderful and, to be honest, I recommend everyone to try it. Now that my break is over though, I’ve been debating whether or not I should start using on tiktok again. It’s not worth my mental health at the moment, so for now I'll focussing on instagram, my newsletters and my blogs.
These last few weeks I’ve been busy applying to events. After my last con spree, I noticed that doing more than 2 cons a month is too much for me, so I’ve tried spreading them out more this year. I've also applied to a lot more international cons in the Netherlands and Germany. The Belgian con scene has had a massive audience change since the pandemic, with the "new" con-goers not matching my target audience. No worries though, you will still see me at plenty Belgian events, but only 3 of them will be cons.
Besides planning events, I’ve been working on the first shop update of the year, which will go live on the 25th of January at 18h CEST. There will be new sticker and button designs and new hoods (both with and without scarf). These new hoods will be a bit more intricate, so I had to bump up the price a bit. I know that these are hard times for everyone and I try to keep my art as affordable as possible, while still being able to survive as a full-time artist. On the brighter side, I’m also planning on posting a lot of freebies here on my blog. There will be loads of tutorials on how to sew your own clothing, easy ways to upgrade the clothes you already have, music playlists, movie reviews and more! Be sure to subscribe to the newsletter, that way you won't miss any of it!
I’m glad we got to catch up and I can’t wait to see you again soon!
Until then,
Margo
